Hion strengthens commitment to design and sustainability with key leadership appointments

Hion

Katja Vakula is our new Chief Design Officer, and Tea Dickman takes on Design & Sustainability Lead position.

With these changes, we aim to further strengthen our customer-centricity and continuous innovation in both sustainability and business development.

It was important for us to elevate design to the same level as technology, as design plays a crucial role in the development of digital services and products.

Going forward, Tea Dickman will be responsible for the holistic advancement of our design development projects and sustainability work as the Design & Sustainability Lead, taking our environmental responsibility to the next level, across the company at every level. This role is strategically important to us both in terms of sustainable working practices and in the development of the services we offer to our customers. Tea is one of Finland’s leading experts in sustainable digital development, with decades of experience in designing digital services, especially in the highly regulated public sector.

“The longer I live, the more I’ve come to the conclusion that I want to nurture a sustainable, viable, carbon-neutral planet. I want to dedicate my working life to developing more responsible business, designing environmentally responsible services, and low-carbon implementations. At Hion, this means supporting and guiding teams and colleagues in facing this significant task across the company. I am honored by this recognition and proud that Hion, with its courage, wants to lead environmental responsibility in the digital development industry.” –Tea Dickman

Katja Vakula will serve as our Chief Design Officer, leading the development of transformative design strategies, benefiting both our internal development and, of course, our clients. In addition, Katja will be leading our design team. Katja has a long history in service design and user experience design, and experience in demanding enterprise development projects as well as in developing design practices and sales.

“I am excited to attain this new, challenging, and important role, through which design gains a strategically important position at Hion. My task is firstly to cherish and grow a skilled and ambitious design team, to bring our own clients more strongly into the center of our services, and to enhance our company’s design maturity. We will also work closely with Tea to ensure that environmental responsibility and sustainable development are also part of our design identity.” –Katja Vakula

We will be sharing more about our services in both design and sustainability later this spring, so stay tuned!
